The Queen of the Nurburgring passed away at 51-years-old. She had been battling cancer since 2017. Here are some of our favorite Sabine moments from Top Gear and her racing career. Sabine will be missed.
Her passion
Destroying the Competition
Top Gear – Nurburgring Van Challenge
Top Gear – King of the Hammers
She really could drive anything.
I had no idea she was even sick. What a tragedy, and what a loss – to racing, entertainment, and to a business usually dominated by men.
That clip “destroying the competition” feels like a video game on easy-settings.
Sabine was just awesome. The world was a better place with her in it. Sad news.
And definitely a worse place without her. Very sad news for someone whose presence filled any room she was in, even only tele-visually as the above attests. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. What a loss to the world, and the worlds of motorsport and entertainment.
Sigh…. it was quite seriously one of my life’s ambitions to ride The Ring with her at the wheel.
My wife’s parents live in The Eastern Netherlands, and I really wanted to go and drive at Nurburgring, but having Sabine drive me would have been equally cool. Alas, while it’s pretty close to a day trip, that never panned out for me.
Seeing her death announced was a surprise. Extra style points for the Einsturzende Neubauten shirt in the lead photo, because of course the Queen of the Nurburgring was into German industrial noise music.
