And now for something a little different . . .
Part of my morning break invariably includes a scroll through craigslist for rare, interesting, or odd cars. In today’s case, I think I’ve found all three. We do have to cross the border for this quirky little Nissan-Datsun, so click past the break to find out more.
What we have here is a 1967 Datsun 411, that appears to be in not-bad shape. According to the seller,
1967 Datsun 411, 4dr 1.3 litre 4speed manual..SOLID BODY!! ..needing BRAKE PARTS..Master Brake Cylinder, wheel cylinders..”’.seven seven eight nine six eight seven six five three,…..North Delta Canada..30 minutes from Peace Arch Border Crossing…. only 42,000miles.ORIGINAL PAINT.SOLID BODY< FLOORS & TRUNK!!!!!!… and i….NEEDs BRAKE.work to DRIVE!! .$2,500 ……….NADA.COM CLASSIC Price guide.

Ignoring the creative punctuation, it looks like an enticing offer. Only 42,000 miles, just $1875 (I’m guessing $CD), and the chance to own something unusual. Would you take the chance on a car like this?

Perhaps this guy could buy it and end all his mystery car woes.
Why yes, it IS a Datsun!

sir POLAЯ, I'm so happy to see you 'round these parts of the web!!
The 411 on this: smoking deal on a rare vehicle.
Even with the needed brake work, it is a great price.
"This posting has been flagged for removal" 🙁
Okay, who bought it? Fess up.
Still posted, at least on this end. http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/3615169811….
Nope

I did a search for "Datsun" on the Seattle CL, and this car's listed three times; the one at $1875, and two times at $2222. Okay, whatever.
Then, there's this one, a little rusty:

This is one of the many now-rare and now-desirable cars that passed through my family while I was growing up.
My oldest sister's high school ride was a 64 Barracuda. The younger (still 9 years my elder) sister's first car was a Bluebird, same year as this one. I remember the day she and Dad drove it home. 1980. It'd been sitting outside a barn for ten years, and Dad got it for $100, got it running in an hour, drove it ten miles home with Leah beside him, both sitting on bare springs.
The paint was trashed, the wheels covered in mud, but I distinctly remember noticing the roofline as they pulled into the driveway. They parked, got out, eight-year-old me said, "What a jaunty little car!" I had never used the word "jaunty" before, never seen anything remotely jaunty in appearance until that moment.
Dad painted it metal-flake blue, got the seats re-upholstered. Years passed and Leah needed a college car that was better in bad weather, so Dad got her a Wagoneer (the family's fourth) and the Bluebird sat next to a barn again, our barn, for a month or two before it drove off down the driveway and into another kid's daydream.
That barn. . . . All the cars I saw come and go, all the Imperials, all the New Yorkers, the three Barracudas, the five Wagoneers and four Jeep trucks, the flatnose Econolines, the Belvedere, the GTX that came and went in two weeks–none ever stayed in that barn. Whacking great piles of other stuff, yeah, but the cars are all gone.
Most of those cars wouldn't've fit through the smallish door. The Bluebird would've fit, though. Sure be fun to find that jaunty little thing forgotten and covered in dust.
Cool story. I bet it's sitting in a shed somewhere.
. . . waiting to be found, again.
And so the story will continue. That's what I love about old cars.
Check the currency rates. The mighty US dollar hasn't been mighty for quite awhile. At current rates that $2500CDN is $2450US
I'm not going to buy it, but I live nearby and will get the brake work done and drive it to you.
(North America only. Or pay me to pick up a 'translator' when I cross into Mexico. Probably cheap!)
Gracias, eh?
Is it wrong that I'd like to restomod this 'bird?
No. And yes.
That's not a bluebird, it's a cardinal. You can't fool me.
Here is a similar vintage Datsun truck I spotted here in Olympia WA U.S.A.

I blog frequently and I really appreciate your content.
This article has really peaked my interest. I am going to take a note of your blog and
keep checking for new details about once a week. I opted in for your RSS feed too.
Such batteries are therefore fitted only by people who are wellaware about the electricbike kit.
To better understand how to build an inverter, it is important to learn how the
circuit functions through nthe following steps:. If you’re using a rear
mounted electric motor, you’ll want to be very careful to align the chain properly,
very straight and without a lot of slack. Your bicycle conversion kit should come with a simple to install controller,
battery and wiring, and this is all very easy to mount and connect by following
the instructions provided with your conversion kit.
Greetings! Very useful advice in this particular article!
It is the little changes that will make the biggest changes.
Many thanks for sharing!

Good day Gents, I bought the Datsun 411 that you see in the picture. I have spent the last year or so restoring it. Everything is done but the interior. I have a massive collection of receipts and some spare parts. I am going to be selling the car in the next few weeks but have no idea what to ask?
I Paid $2000.00 for the car and a bunch of parts. I have spent over 160 hours in labour and a small fortune in parts. I am thinking $10,000.00 Canadian. what do you guys think? I am trying to post some pictures and haven’t figured out how to do that yet on this site?
