The Top Mountain Motorcycle Museum, located in Hochgurgl, Austria, suffered a fire on January 18th. The museum housed over 250 vintage motorcycles. The facility had been closed due to COVID restrictions and was preparing to reopen on January 24th.
The fire occurred at night. The museum’s location at the top of a mountain pass made it the world’s highest motorcycle museum. That also means heavy snow accumulation at this time of year. The video shows the snow removal apparatus trying to clear space.
It was reported that when fire fighting equipment arrived, the entire roof was already in flames.
The museum’s interior was gorgeous, but a failure in the fire extinguishing system (if there was one) has caused a total loss. Hopefully, there were not a lot of one-of-a-kind motorcycles stored in the facility.
