  • Finnish Line – 1991 Chevrolet Caprice Classic

As I hopped to the grocery store to buy some coffee, I noticed this 1991-model Caprice Classic on the parking lot. It, too, is a noticeable car on the parking lot full of boring, and probably the only car there with a modicum of class. Next to the super-ordinary Toyota, it’s like the Caprice shows…

The 1989 HSR-II is one of six Mitsubishi’s Highly Sophisticated Transport Research concept cars, and my favorite of those. It’s a wild, elongated aerodynamic shape, and it even has a double bubble roof. These promo shots depict the car in the desert, and they have an otherworldly quality about them.

The 1985 CUE-X most likely showcased the design for the upcoming Maxima. Pronounce “CUE-X” and it makes sense, as the Maxima was sold as Maxima QX in some markets. You can spot 4DSC styling details here and there, and as a whole it’s definitely interesting-looking. So flush.

  • Weekend Edition – Would I Bounce Back: Dome Zero

The Japanese Concept Car Weekend Edition continues with the Dome Zero. The Zero is rather a small-scale production prototype car than a true concept car, and it was made in small numbers from 1978 to 1986. It looks incredible, and is easily one of my all-time favorite cars.

  • Weekend Edition – Party Fears Two: Nissan MID-4 II

The 1987 Nissan MID-4 II concept was the logical successor to the 1985 MID-4. At this point, the design had evolved from the sharper, compact-looking 1985 car to a more fluid, more LeMans sort of work. The front works, but the rear is an another question altogether.

The second Japanese concept car of this Associates-soundtracked Concept Car Weekend Edition is the 1985 Nissan MID-4 concept. It’s another of my concept car favorites, and the ’80sness of it goes deep to the core – just like the RX500 is so very 1970. It’s like a blend of Renault Alpine design and Ferrari details,…

This weekend’s Weekend Edition showcases my favorite Japanese concept cars from past decades. I’m writing my posts on a train to Tampere, Finland, and since the Finnish train service is slow and unreliable, I need to look at some desirable rare metal to keep my wits about me. Note: the titles on these posts are…

  • Our Cars – 1984 Fiat 127 Super Stella

Well, this is a bit of a trip down memory lane. And it’s a departure from any “Our Cars” kind of post I’ve done previously, as the car on it is a bit run-down and frankly in a state of complete disrepair. It’s our old second car, a 1984 Fiat 127. It’s the old story,…

  • Fastback Friday – 1991 Eagle Talon

Moving smoothly within the Chrysler Corporation scope, today’s street submission is a 1991 Eagle Talon. Eagle-eyed commenters pointed out yesterday, that the LH Chrysler 300M was essentially an Eagle until 12 months before its hatching, and development photos uncovered showed the triangular Eagle emblem mounted on the front grille. This Diamond Star car is in…

  • The Full-Bodied Automobile – 1999 Chrysler 300M

Even if this Chrysler 300M sighting is from the newer spectrum of posted cars, being a 1999 model, it’s still a car I happily feature here. It’s always nice to see a bold-looking American car here in the Finnish street scene, and whether said car is a cab forward design front-wheel-drive barge, it makes little…
