Welcome to the Sunday Edition of the Hooniverse Weekend, and I have been highlighting odd yet interesting imports for this weekend, and look what I found… A New Hampshire Dealer has in their inventory not one, but two 1988 Mitsubishi L300 (Delica) Vans, and both are still in fairly good operating condition. This was one of the three forward control vans imported during this time period, with the Toyota LiteAce/TownAce Vans (Called the Toyota Van here in North America) and the Nissan C22 Van (Called appropriately the Nissan Van here in the states), and they were all marketed here between 1985 and 1990 to compete with the wildly popular Chrysler Minivans. It is amazing that they all disappeared as quickly as they appeared, and finding one is like finding a unicorn in the wild… So, do you think they are desirable?
Let’s start out with the very colorful Conversion Van and see if it strikes your fancy. According to the listing:
We recently purchased this cool blast from the past. It runs and drives great and is looking for a new place to call home. It was shipped to us from California so the body and undercarriage is absolutly rust free. It is a seven passenger custome van with 4 captains chairs and bench in rear. It has a 2.4 gas engine. Also has large sunroof in working condition.
The window tint on the windows will nee attention, and that’s fairly easy to take care of except the rear window (with the defroster grid). The Limousine Antennae on the roof is such a great period touch, as is the window treatments and the period correct velour upholstery. It has 167,000 miles on the clock, and the asking price is $4,495. See the listing here, and tell me you don’t want this in the worst way…
Now, if one Mitsubishi L300 isn’t enough for you, this dealer has another 1988 L300 in stock, only this one is a pure stock passenger version. What is really interesting is that the dealer decided not to write a description of the vehicle, so you will have to guess as to what comes with the vehicle. The listing has a lot of images so maybe they will tell the story…
It looks like this L300 still wears the original plastic wheel trim that came with it, and it has covered a little over 185,000 miles. the asking price for this van is exactly the same as the other one, $4,495. See the listing here, and tell me if either of these vans are worth the trouble of putting them in your garage.
