2024 Lexus TX-Teaser-1

2024 Lexus TX Teaser

Lexus is teasing a new vehicle, the 2024 Lexus TX. No release date was shared, and just one image.

All I can see when I look at the name is the Lexus Texas, pronounced as “Lejas Tejas.”

My gut/sources tell me this is a Lexus version of the Toyota Grand Highlander. The rear structure is almost identical to the Grand Highlander’s C & D-pillars. Rear taillight shape is similar, and the up-turn of the bodywork above the corner of the rear bumper is close as well.

Some Gas Required

A fuel door indicates that at least some fuel is on board. Not a great location for an EV charging port, so more than likely a gas engine. Hybrid would potentially be the max of its electrification. A plugin hybrid would be a welcome addition, but not likely. The Grand Highlander’s Hybrid MAX powertrain produces 362 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque. These are respectable numbers, but we have not seen mpg data for the Grand Highlander. Speculation is that Toyota is targeting 34 mpg from combined driving.

I look forward to picking up a Lexus TX on the pre-owned market. What’s not to like? 3 rows of seats, a hybrid powertrain, probably ~30+ mpg, and $80,000+ for the new ones. I’d love a depreciated Lejas Tejas!
